Depression is a result of a chemical imbalance in the body. If unchecked, this imbalance may have some serious side effects on your health.

Those who have been diagnosed with some serious illness, especially those with terminal illnesses, will usually be affected by depression. However, it is important for these people to make sure that their illness do not result in a serious depression. Otherwise, they may find that they'll end up with other serious problems caused by the depression.

There are some illnesses that may give rise to depression. Disorders such as bipolar and some other mental illnesses can cause a person to feel depressed. Physical problems such as heart diseases, cancer and diabetes can also be causing depression. Many people are trapped in their depressed state because of the health conditions they are in.

Almost anything can easily cause them to fall into deep depression which can result in violent mood swings.

If you know of anyone suffering from a combination of depression and bipolar disorder, it is very important that you get this person to seek help in order to receive proper treatment immediately. If no treatment is given, this person very often will result in committing suicide. People in this condition are quite unpredictable and unreliable and can cause harm to themselves and others.

Your help to someone suffering from depression and some other disorders at the same time is invaluable. Besides making sure that the person is receiving proper care and treatment for the disorders, you'll also need to keep a close watch on the person. While receiving treatment, this person is still in danger of harming himself or herself and other people. You need to seek advice from professionals on what to look out for and what to do to keep this person safe.

Depression does not exist alone. There are usually some other associated problems involved. For effective treatment, all problems have to be looked into and treated.
