Question: I need medication to treat my diagnosed depression, but my parents wont let me...?
(Posted by: Jeremy on 2010-02-08 16:34:54)
I have been diagnosed with bipolar depression just over a year ago (which has made me suffer from a mild form of social anxiety) and i am sick of it. its gotten to a point where i am having suicidal thoughts and i cant remember the last time i was enjoying life. i've talked to my parents about taking prescription medication but they arent for it. ive tried almost every "natural " way to treat it but nothing has helped. i NEED to take xanaz, adderall, or prozac or something to get me past this. what do i do? |

If you're a child, legally your parents are not allowed to REFUSE medical treatment if a doctor feels it's in your best interests AND if you wish to be treated. Not only is it against your human rights, it can also be classed as a form of child abuse - refusing you medical treatment you need. If you're not a child, then your parents have no say in what you do. Either way, they can't refuse if doctors wish to prescribe treatment that YOU wish to take. |

If you feel suicidal, call the suicide hot line, now. You need to talk to a trusted adult about your symptoms, without demanding any named drugs. It sounds as though you're looking for drugs to get high on... If you really need help, there's plenty out there. Let a professional prescribe the meds.; you have no degree, stop practicing without a license. God bless. |

You need to talk to a doctor & have them talk to your parents. If you were diagnosed with Bipolar depression, that means you have manic highs too. An anti-depressant alone isn't recommended for Bipolar people because it can throw you into a manic state. Things can get really bad if you're left ununtreated though. |
