Yes; it keeps mental activity out of the emotional centres of the brain. Practice a rmeditation method, daily, and when needed, such as: (free) altmedicine.about.com/ cs/ mindbody/ a/ Meditation.htm or wikihow.com/ Meditate or Yoga Nidra, (no flexibility required) at your-mental-health.8m.com/ blank_11.html See pages 3, and B, for other natural treatments. At least, use the core treatments. Best meditation results come from 20 mn sessions, twice daily, some hours apart, preferably morning, and afternoon. |

Yes, absolutely. Depression, anxiety and many other mental maladies respond well to meditation. It isn't an instant cure usually, but in some cases the results can happen very quickly. |

I would think, any exercise or something that clears your mind would help. I workout personally and it makes me feel great about everything. Go for a nice jog in the woods or something, feels great. |

I have serve depression and terrible anxiety. i tried yoga and a some kind of meditation class, i forget what its called, and in the long run neither did anything for me. i do a sort of self meditation i guess, where i just lay there and count backwards. my psych doctor told me to do it, and it relaxes me a bit and over all sometimes it helps a little. but to answer your question does it "stop " depression, no. depression is like cancer, it only ever goes into remission. |

Yes, meditation is very good for depression and anxiety, though it takes some time to master the technique. Start off small with just 5-10 minutes of focusing on your breath. It may help to count your breaths. If you lose count, start again at one. Persevere and the results will be worth it. |

Meditation and depression are two opposing mental states. When you are depressed it is hard to meditate. Meditation takes energy. When you are depression your mind lacks energy. Meditation takes concentration. When your mind is depressed the mind is scattered. For example, exercise is good for your health. When you exercise consistently, you do not easily get sick. But when you are very sick and you never exercised in years. You want to start to exercise, will your sickness get better ? Get help. When your mind is healthy again, learn and start meditation. |

Yes. Meditation is definitely a healthy way of stopping/ coping with depression. Other things that can help stop depression: -finding the reasons why you are depressed and then finding a positive solution or change to combat it. -talking about it with someone that is a good listener -doing things you like, or finding something you may like (sports, music, art, writing, knitting- there's so many things out there~!) -being around positive people. |

I'm not sure. But that's why I just recently started meditating. It seems to help and it feels good too. Like I always feel relaxed and 'clean' or something. I highly recommend it. |

My husband made this specifically for addressing some depression issues with a family member and it has worked like gangbusters! It's AMAZING what the mind can do (but don't forget the heart!) virtuesmeditation.com it's heavy duty and only really made for people who are totally serious about it. kind of an industrial strength thing... All the best with your meditation. Rebecca |
