Fish oil, which has been shown in some preliminary studies to alleviate symptoms of depression. Although it is not concrete evidence, fish oil gels have omega 3s that are healthy for your heart and brain, so it's a good idea to take it.

Marijuana's a temporary fix. it's more of a distraction from the depression. find a therapist to talk to.

You need to get out daily, and work hard at doing the things you need to do. DON'T STAY INSIDE THE HOUSE EVERYDAY....consulting a couselor doesn't mean you need anti-depressants. Try a hotline.

I so understand where you're coming from. Try the book "The Mood Cure, " by Dr. Julia Ross. Whoever suggested fish oil is onto something, but the truth is, we each might be dealing with something different. Dr. Ross gives you a couple of checklists to help you hone in on what your specific deficiencies might be. Then she gives recommendations on what to take to relieve it. She writes really clearly, and you don't have to read the whole book—only the parts that apply to you. Here are her categories: 1. Under a dark cloud 2. Suffering from the Blahs 3. Overwhelmed by stress 4. Too sensitive to life's pain She breaks them down further—no room to explain here. She also explains the difference between true moods and false moods. True moods are responses to external events, like a loved one dying. It's natural to be depressed about that. False moods are about nutritional imbalances—but when we're in them, we think they're about external events. It's taken me a while to train myself to see the difference, but now I can question my moods and ask, "Is this just a false mood? " Often, I can see it is a false mood and identify something I ate or didn't eat that might have led to it. (Hint: Diet Coke is evil. But that's just my experience.) So, I'm sorry I don't have a specific answer, but your needs are unique to you. This book, or a nutritionist, might be able to help target nutrients you're missing or stuff that's hurting. I hope this helps somewhat. And I hope you feel better.

Diet and exercise. It's worked for me for fifteen years.
